As travel lovers, we are always looking for high-quality, and above all practical, travel products that make our trips easier and more comfortable. That is why, in collaboration with Kapten & Son, we were able to test a few travel products: a suitcase set, a backpack and the 3-in-1 rain jacket. In this blog we are happy to share our honest experiences with the products.
What immediately struck us about the Kapten & Son products is the high quality. The products have a luxurious look and the materials feel very sturdy.
Heathrow Sandstone suitcase set
The Heathrow Sandstone suitcase set consists of an 82-litre check-in suitcase and a 38-litre carry-on suitcase. Because you have both a check-in and a carry-on suitcase, you are immediately ready for longer trips as well as short (city) trips.
What immediately struck us about this suitcase set is that both the check-in and the carry-on suitcase are lightweight and have smooth 360° wheels, so it takes no effort at all to take the suitcases with you. Both have a sturdy hard shell and a TSA lock. Both suitcases also have a smart layout with handy compartments, which gives you a surprising amount of space. The suitcases are beautifully finished, giving them a luxurious look, with gold-coloured details on the outside and zinc and dark blue woven packing straps on the inside of the suitcase. It not only feels sturdy, but also keeps your luggage firmly in place while you travel.
One downside of the Heathrow Sandstone is the colour. Because of the light colour it shows signs of use more quickly, but for us that is not a big enough problem not to buy this suitcase set. The check-in suitcase also comes with a suitcase cover that you can put around it while travelling. Super handy and stylish at the same time!

For us, the Heathrow Sandstone suitcase set is an ideal addition to our travels. Thanks to the sturdy exterior, smooth 360° wheels and handy compartments, this suitcase set is ideal for all kinds of trips! The luxurious look of a matching suitcase set makes it even more fun to use when travelling.
Helsinki Pro Sandstone backpack
The Helsinki Pro Sandstone backpack is an ideal bag for everyday use or to take along as hand luggage when travelling. It is a spacious, functional backpack. We were surprised by how much we could fit into it. The backpack has a volume of 23 litres. Once again Kapten & Son excels with its well-organised compartments. The backpack has a laptop compartment, five padded inner compartments, an anti-theft pocket on the back and room for a water bottle on both sides, among other things. The backpack has a top zip and a fold-open back, so you can pack the bag from different sides. Another thing we find very handy about this bag is that it has a luggage strap on the back, so you can easily slide the bag over the handle of your suitcase. Ideal!
A small downside, just like with the suitcase set, is the colour. Because of the light colour you can see signs of use more quickly. But personally we think this colour is really beautiful.

All in all, we are very happy with the Helsinki Pro backpack. We can fit loads of things into it, which is really handy when travelling and makes it a great addition to the suitcase set.
Everyday 3in1 Rain Jacket
Once again, what stands out about the Everyday 3in1 Rain Jacket from Kapten & Son is the quality. The jacket feels nice and weighs about 1 kilo. The rain jacket can be worn in three different ways, which makes it a multifunctional jacket. The jacket consists of a rain jacket with a fleece jacket on the inside. It is suitable for spring and autumn, and sometimes for winter too. The fleece jacket is firmly attached to the rain jacket with buttons and zips, but is very easy to separate from the rain jacket. The jacket is waterproof and windproof, so you are protected against many weather conditions, and because it is breathable, sweat can escape as water vapour without you cooling down. The rain jacket has a hood, an inside pocket with a zip and two side pockets with zips. The fleece jacket has an inside pocket with a zip and two side pockets without zips. We find the side pockets without zips a small downside, as you cannot close them, but for us this is no reason not to buy the jacket.
For people who really feel the cold, this rain jacket is not suitable for winter, as it is just a bit too thin for that. For this, Kapten&Son has another option, the Puffer 3in1 Rain Jacket. Unfortunately we cannot give an opinion on it.
Verdict on the Everyday 3in1 Rain Jacket
We think the Everyday 3in1 Rain Jacket is ideal to wear during our travels and everyday activities. The jacket protects us against rain, wind and cold, in other words the weather for three quarters of the year in the Netherlands. Because the jacket can be worn in 3 different ways, it is perfect for us to wear when travelling too, and a great addition to our wardrobe.

After testing these products, we understand very well why Kapten & Son is so popular. The Heathrow Sandstone suitcase set is perfect for both longer trips and short (city) trips, the Helsinki Pro is ideal as a backpack for everyday use or as hand luggage, and with the Everyday 3in1 Rain Jacket you stay warm and dry on the colder and wetter days of your trip. The combination of style, comfort and quality makes these products really pleasant to use, and it is a pleasure to take them along every time we travel!
