5 travel books to dream away with
Still looking for a present to ask for at Christmas or for your birthday? Over the years we have collected quite a few travel books. Because hey, who does not get happy from a dose of travel stories and dreamy pictures? From Lonely Planet and ANWB travel guides to 101 wonders of the world that we hope to see one day. Here we share five of the most beautiful travel books we currently own.
Het Grote Gratis Op Reis Boek
This is the Lonely Planet guide for the budget-conscious traveller (published in English as The Big Free Travel Book). When we travel, we tend to spend more money than usual. Still, it is always nice to be able to save on something, so you have more money left for that one excursion you want to do that is actually quite expensive. This book also shows you that free can mean you do not have to buy the most expensive things on a trip to have a fantastic experience. The most beautiful things in the world are free, like a sunrise and beautiful nature. The book highlights different cities with free tips. From markets and parks to temples, and from cathedrals and churches to museums. It also has fun tips from locals about eating and drinking for next to nothing and about free or cheap transport. After reading this book, you will never spend too much money on a trip again!
Roaming America
This book was written by Renee & Matthew Hahnel. In 7 months this couple saw all the national parks in the United States, and they share it in this beautiful travel book! They are from Australia but emigrated to the United States, where they turned their travel photography into their profession. When they got an offer from a company to visit all the national parks in the USA in a camper van, they first thought it was a joke. But it turned out to be serious, and that is where their dream trip began! In this book you will find their travel plan from point 1, where they started, to point 59, where they ended the trip. As well as highlighting all the national parks, they also share tips on what is essential on a road trip, how best to photograph the parks, the best places to stay along the way, the most beautiful hiking trails and tips for life in a camper. But the most beautiful thing about this book is the breathtaking photos!
Bucketlist Reizen
In this book (Bucket List Trips, in Dutch) you will find 25 trips around the world you have to do at some point. Written by Marloes de Hooge of Travel Valley. What is nice about this book is that the whole route is described for each trip. There are also all kinds of fun tips on things to do or to look out for along the route. It also states exactly what the best time to travel is, how much time you should allow and the best way to do the trip: by camper, car, public transport, backpacking and so on. Finally, you are inspired by really lovely travel pictures. And believe me, you will actually want to do all the trips described in this book at least once in your life!
Destinations Of A Lifetime
In this book by National Geographic you will find 225 of the world's most beautiful places. The book is divided into 6 categories: Nature Unbound, Hand of Man, Sea & Shore, Mountain Majesty, Town & Country and My Shot. What is nice about this book is that it includes tips on the best time to travel to a destination, how much time to allow and tips to make the experience even more unforgettable. The website of each sight is listed too. After reading this book and seeing the beautiful pictures, you will appreciate the beauty of the world even more.

Culture Trails
A book by Lonely Planet with 52 tips for a cultural trip, one for every week of the year. The book goes deeper into the cultural background of a sight, or for example into famous people who made a location well known. There are also tips on the best places to stay or dine, how much time to allow at minimum and when there are local festivities you can join. We ourselves like to know how something came about when we visit a destination or sight. In this book you can read all about it in advance.
